Voting Rights Act Exemption

By order an order entered on May 21, 2002, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia exempted Rockingham County--along with the Towns of Bridgewater, Dayton, Mt. Crawford, Timberville, Broadway, Grottoes, and Elkton--from the requirements of the Voting Rights Act. The order relieves local government officials from a significant administrative burden.
