Jason J. Ham

Mr. Ham is from the Isle of Wight, England. His father, a physician, brought his family to the United States when he was a child. An avid traveler, Jason has visited over half of the States, and to many parts of Canada and Europe. A naturalized US citizen, he has spent most of his life in the Valley. In his free time, Mr. Ham bikes or does something outdoors, enjoying the incredible beauty of the amazing place that he is lucky enough to call home.

Mr. Ham’s primary practice areas are civil litigation, local government and tax exempt finance.  

An experienced litigator and advocate, he has extensive trial experience and represents individual and institutional clients in the prosecution and defense of tort, contract, wrongful death and tax assessment litigation. Mr. Ham represents numerous different types of clients, from multimillion dollar businesses to individuals who have had terrible things happen to them or to their loved ones.

As County Attorney for Warren and Shenandoah Counties and Town Attorney for the town of New Market, Mr. Ham performs local government work for his and the firm’s other municipal clients, which include two cities, three other towns, a housing authority, a regional sewer authority, two sanitary districts, an economic development authority, an industrial development authority, and two planning district commissions

Mr. Ham performs municipal bond work and has acted as issuer’s bond and bank counsel. He has represented the firm’s municipal and banking clients with regard to the issuance of tax exempt bonds, and has performed numerous bond closings.

Mr. Ham also maintains a general practice of law, drafting wills, assisting clients in forming companies and partnerships and representing such entities in the conduct of their business including drafting contracts and consulting regarding employment matters, and performing other legal work on behalf of individual, corporate and municipal clients.

$5,350,000.00 Jury Verdict 

On November 22, 2010 Jason Ham, along with co-counsel John Stepanovich of Chesapeake, Virginia obtained a jury award of $5,350,000.00 in the Norfolk Circuit Court. The case was a personal injury action against a mental hospital that our client claimed failed to provide proper security. Our client, a physician in Virginia Beach, was assaulted by a mental patient who fractured his skull and caused permanent damage to his eye.
